The shoemaker and the goblins

A shoemaker lived in a village with his family. He had his workshop in his own house, in a humble building.

The shoemaker made leather shoes and made them very well. He bought the leather. With her sewing tools she made shoes and sold them. He was known for his honesty. The villagers knew that this good man never cheated on them and that the shoes he made were the best in the village.

However, he hadn't had any clients for weeks. The poor man had no more money. All he had was enough leather to make a pair of shoes. Still the shoemaker was not sad.

He gathered his family together and explained:

“I will cut the leather and prepare it tonight. Tomorrow I will sew the pieces and finish the shoes. Then I will sell them and we will have enough money to buy our dinner tomorrow. ".

His wife added:

“Let's give thanks for what we have, even if it doesn't seem like much. Everything will be fine. We will find one solution. We are lucky! "

And the family went to sleep that night with joy and delusion...

The next morning, the shoemaker went to get the leather pieces and… There was a completely finished pair of shoes! Neither the shoemaker nor his family could imagine who had made these shoes in the middle of the night!!

They all shouted:

“We are so lucky! Someone is helping us, but we don't know who it is! Wonderful!"

That day a customer came and bought the shoes. He paid the shoemaker enough so that he was able to buy leather to make two more pairs of shoes.

That night the shoemaker cut the leather and got ready to make the shoes the next day.

The family went to bed, very happy of their good fortune and satisfied with the great dinner they had had ...

The next morning, the shoemaker went to get the leather pieces and… He found two pairs of fully finished shoes! The whole family was so grateful ...

They wondered:

"Who is helping us in such a mysterious way?"

The correct fortune of the family continued. Every morning the shoemaker found new shoes, made from the leather that he cut the night before. His business was doing well again and he started to have a lot of money.

One afternoon the wife said to the shoemaker:

"Let's stay up tonight and see who's so good to us ..."

The husband agreed, so they hid in a corner of the workshop and waited. At midnight two little men dressed in rags appeared. They quickly started sewing, cutting and gluing until the shoes were ready. Then they quietly disappeared… The husband and wife were so shocked…

The wife said:

“So it's them! Little goblins! And the poor people have such torn and dirty clothes… I'll make new clothes for them! "

The shoemaker added:

What wonderful little men! I'll make them some shoes! The whole family to to work!"

The following night, the family placed the clothes they had made for the elves in the place where they used to make shoes. They also put a small note that said:

"Many Thank you for your help ".

When the goblins appeared at midnight, they did not find a piece of leather with which to make the shoes..

 A goblin said:

"Look here! New clothes and shoes for us! "

The goblins were so excited… They dressed and danced happily. Finally, they danced out the door and then never again visited the shoemaker ...

Although the elves did not return, the shoemaker and his family always had enough work and money to eat ...
