Are we condemned not to be happy?

Are we condemned not to be happy?

There are many people who do not learn. It is not enough for them with the number of self-help books that are published in our country every year or with the huge amount of resources that exist on the Internet and that explain, with more or less success, what must be done to live happily and joyfully.

They are not worth the help of family and friends, nor do they dare to consult a psychologist and put an end to their depressed mood in a definitive way. These are people who "work very hard" to be sad all day or who live condemned not to be happy.

“Beware of sadness. It is a vice" -Gustave Flaubert-

Surely everyone, at one time or another in our life, we have felt sad or depressed. Since it is not a pleasant feeling, we have felt the need to overcome this situation, either through our own resources or by asking for help from trusted people in our immediate environment. However, there are people who do not know, do not want or can not get out of this depressing situation. They definitely don't learn from their mistakes.

“Sadness, even if it is always justified, is often just laziness. Nothing needs less effort than being sad " -Seneca-

What do sad people do to feel this way?

  1. They are very self demanding all the time. This produces frustration that leads to stress and finally sadness, since they rarely manage to do everything perfectly..
  2. They give a lot of turns to anything, however small it may be. They do not know how to solve their problems and only know how to think about them, leading to sadness and anxiety.
  3. They think that others "should" treat them in a very special way at all times. As this is hardly possible, they feel a deep disappointment and sadness..
  4. They think they "shouldn't" ever suffer no setback or suffering. Since it is never fulfilled, they are also unhappy about it.
  5. They have no "real" purpose or project in life. They almost always live in despair.
  6. They don't know how to relax. They are nervous and stressed all day.
  7. They don't have the slightest sense of humor. They don't remember when they last laughed out loud and they take everything very seriously.
  8. They have a low tolerance for uncertainty. As life is uncertainty, they feel sad very often.
  9. They have not learned to "savor" the good times that life offers. They focus however to rejoice with the wicked.
  • They interpret everyday problems, no matter how small, as catastrophes.
  • They need to have a lot of things, the more the merrier, to feel happy. Since they often fail to do so, they feel sad and pouty.
  • They think any past time was better. They live more in the yesterday than in the here and now. They are melancholic by nature.
  • They think that life "should be" extraordinarily fair to them. As it is almost never, they are always sad and angry.
  • They never turn off the mobile since they are more interested in the virtual world than the real one.
  • They live in constant fear of falling ill. They constantly “scan” your body for clues that confirm your concern.
  • They don't know how to be assertive and, therefore, they don't know how to say NO. This causes them a great disappointment with themselves.
  • Are undervalued since their self-esteem is almost always "low".
  • They don't take care of their social relationships. These are people who, although they are always alone, do not enjoy that situation.
  • They don't know how to forgive. They are very spiteful and are easily hurt.

Now you are in time to make some changes in your life aimed at getting the most out of your existence. Do not waste your time on things that do not bring you anything positive and take care of what you have HERE AND NOW. Keep in mind the words of the great Federico García Lorca:

Cast off sadness and melancholy. Life is kind, it has only a few days and only now we have to enjoy it "
